if someone asked me if i were a christian, i would say, “i follow jesus.” for the most part, i think people think most christians are loud-mouthed, overbearing, shouting, argumentative and overly defensive people. and i think they feel this way because a lot of people who claim to be christians are, in fact, this way. a lot are fake. a lot are for show. a lot are like the televangelists. and that really makes me mad that i am judged based on someone i am truly not.

i feel like people have some serious misconceptions about what christians are about, the beliefs, etc. and here is my main problem with that:

so many christians do not promote a christ-like attitude.

look. i work at a mega church - an honest to god mega church, and i have to see this fake crap all the time. and i hate it. we have this huge building with freaking flat screen televisions everywhere, an entire gym, rockwall, weight rooms, children’s play area, etc. that doesn’t include the church itself. i realize the need to provide a place to minister to the community, but seriously. all this money spent on all this crap when so many people live with absolutely nothing? this certainly can not help. this is not what i’m about.

i’m about:
loving god
loving others
serving others

so i apologize for all these fake christians who are pushy, judgmental and overbearing. we’re not all like that. i promise.

conversely, i know there are people who just flat out have a problem with the beliefs of christianity. i understand that faith can be tricky, and our beliefs seem quite odd and almost mythological. there’s nothing i can really say to this. i can’t make you believe what i believe. all that i can do is talk to you about it if you have any questions (which i’d love to do). seriously. i would.

this world won’t last forever. at the end of your life, everything will just turn to ash and smoke. then what will it amount to? why will it matter how much money you had or who you knew or what job you had? it won’t. i promise, it won’t.

i’m not trying to come across as bashing my own kind. i just want to be as honest and as transparent as possible. that’s all. i have nothing to hide or no reason to lie. i know how frustrating it is to be around fake people."
